Libra Solar Eclipse

Hello Astrology Friends,

How have you all been doing during this Eclipse season? On Wednesday, we are heading into our last Eclipse on the Aries North Node and Libra South Node axis, till 2042!

The North Node is the northern point where the Sun and Moon’s orbits cross in the Sky on the Ecliptic, which makes it an important Eclipse point, as the Eclipses only happen when the Moon and Sun are close or directly on the Nodal points.

The North Node, also known as The Head of the Dragon, signifies the karmic pull of where we are heading, the future, as well as what is scary to go towards, uncomfortable, or what we just can’t get enough of and have an insatiable hunger for.

The South Node, The Tail of the Dragon, is the opposite meeting point of the Sun and Moon’s orbits, signifying where we are coming from, the past, and what we generally are comfortable with and possibly don’t want to change, and it often signifies endings.

Since mid-July 2023 we have been in this North Node in Aries and South Node in Libra dynamic, and it has been a time of learning to be independent, courageous and quick to take action, as well as, unfortunately, a heavily armed time of war as Aries is ruled by Mars, Lord of War. The South Node travelling through Libra has made it almost impossible for peace and harmony to prevail, but that too will soon be coming to an end, thank goodness! I for one am really looking forward to mid-January 2025, when the nodes will finally move on to the Pisces-Virgo axis, and the North Node’s focus is to find more empathy, care for humanity, and generally help one another.

But first we have the Big Solar Eclipse happening on October 2nd, 2024! During a Solar Eclipse, as the Sun and Moon’s paths cross (in our view from Earth), the Moon actually travels between the Earth and Sun, covering the light of the Sun, and thus offering new perspectives. We may suddenly see or feel things differently than before, new information is revealed, some stories come to an end, while new ones begin.

Wednesday’s Eclipse happens at 10° Libra, and at the very same degree we have Black Moon Lilith, and one degree away is Mercury, also known as Hermes, the Messenger. Mercury rules communication, thinking, speaking, planning et cetera, while Black Moon Lilith is the materialization of rage against patriarchy, the essence of not caring what others say, and doing things your own way.

Right opposite the Solar Eclipse, at 10° Aries we have Priapus, a fertility God from Asia Minor who is often depicted with a giant phallus, and who is in a way in balance to Lilith. Black Moon Lilith is our Moon’s apogee, most distant point on the elliptical orbit around the Earth, while Priapus is the perigee of our Moon, the closest point. Lilith and Priapus are in exact opposition only when the Sun is in conjunction with one of them, or at a 90° angle. So, astrologically speaking, this Eclipse suggests a battle between the female and male, a fight for justice and equality, and though the south node of endings is transiting Libra and Lilith, it can also signify a new beginning, as this ultimately is a New Moon and a beginning of a new 3-year Moon Family cycle.

We can expect all the Libra-related topics of relationships, peace, art, literature and equality will be up for review under this Eclipse, intertwined with Lilith’s strong fury for justice and anger toward the patriarchy. We can also expect revelations from the messages Hermes has brought back from his journey to the Underworld. Mercury is currently just passing the Sun, after having had his last retrograde journey down under, and he is fueled up to share relationship stories, thoughts on how to find balance and justice, but may also bring up indecisiveness and passive-aggressive communication styles. Perhaps the Eclipse is exactly what we need to make the tough decisions and move forward from old stories that no longer serve us.

The Solar Eclipse makes a square to Mars in Cancer, so again beware of hostile and feisty tendencies, focus on protection in the home versus disagreements, and please be extra careful, with cooking, especially with hot water and sharp knives.

Mars, on the other hand, is in a great water trine to Venus in Scorpio and Saturn in Pisces. The flood gates are open to tap into our intuitive selves and dive deep into our own psyches. Now is a good time to connect with your partner, set-up some ground rules that can help you grow and carry you to creating a safe sanctuary both at home and with each other.

Saturn has been in Pisces since March 2023 and will continue to stay there till May 2025, then visit once more September 2025 – February 2026. This is the time, during the approximate 29-year cycle of Saturn, while Saturn still is in Pisces, to create foundations for your spiritual well-being. Take that yoga class, do that meditation practice, volunteer at your local food bank, and keep your creative juices flowing, so you have a reserve to pull from for the times ahead.

Wishing you all a safe and revealing Eclipse time and I am looking forward to more delineations of the Cosmos, with you all, next month.

XOXO
