Happy Fall Equinox!
We are here at the pivotal moment that our beloved Persephone descends to the Land of the Dead, to spend the next half of year, with her husband Hades, “The Lord of the Underworld”. Plants are getting ready for their winter nap, summer has come to an end, and Fall is here, in the Northern Hemisphere. The shift from outward Yang energy to inward Yin is ever present and we can all take a moment to appreciate the ever-changing seasons and cycles of life, as well as take a breath and slow down to notice what is happening in the world around.
Simultaneously, we are having a Mercury cazimi, with the Sun, both right at 0° Libra, beginning a brand-new cycle for the next 116 days. This is similar to the “new moon” energy, but with Mercury, it is bringing us new thoughts, ideas and viewpoints to our possibly existing dilemmas and ruminations. The cazimi happens in the middle of a Mercury Retrograde, when conjoining the Sun at the exact degree, and this time at 0° Libra we are at a new beginning with our relationships!
We are also about to have our Libra New Moon, at 2° Libra on Sunday September 25th, emphasizing this time new beginnings! So we are definitely at a place of finding balance and harmony in our relations. Libra, the scales, is an air sign and embodies the need for balance and equality in partnerships, friendships, our one-on-one relationships. Libra also rules Justice, so if you are in an unfair relationship, NOW is the time to make the changes needed.
In Egyptian Mythology Libra was associated with Ma ‘at, a Goddess of the Underworld, who would weigh each person’s soul at death, against an ostrich feather of justice, to see if the person could reincarnate. The idea of Justice and Fairness have been Libra qualities for thousands of years!
Libra New Moon, September 25th, 2022, 2:55pm, P.S.T. San Francisco, CA, USA
Our Libra New Moon is fueled hot with an opposition from Jupiter in Aries! Aries is the sign of Self and Action and Jupiter expands, brings luck, but also may totally over blow whatever he touches. The Jupiter retrograde here does imply that perhaps we don’t all get our swords blazing at once, but rather can take a look inwards to see what we need as individuals to grow, learn and teach ourselves - so we can also share that in our relationships. Can we be warriors of expanding our minds, willing to learn new ways to dance the dance of equilibrium in our relationships, as well as trust our intuition to find the way? Perhaps easier said than done.
Neptune, also retrograding, in Pisces, is in an opposition to Mercury, Venus and Eros in Virgo. This means that as much as we want things to be precise, organized and clear, with our minds, and hearts, we have to acknowledge there are things we do not know. Neptune can blur the lines of reality, cause confusion and illusions, and what we think we know, may not be the truth at all! So yes, the Neptunian rose-colored glasses may have us looking at the wrong picture all along, not a surprise while Mercury is also in retrograde.
Last, but not least, Pluto (Lord of the Underworld) is also in the mix here, in a trine to all the above: New Moon, Mercury, Venus and Eros. Pluto brings transformation, forces us to let go of what no longer serves us, and paves a new path forward. Sometimes even in a trine (more harmonious aspect) with Pluto, there can still be the feelings of loss and sadness, but ultimately there is a new beginning in the Horizon.
Wishing you all good beginnings for the libra season and journey ahead!
XOXO
