We are still here in Gemini season. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of Communication and Connectivity which in myth corresponds to Hermes, the ancient Greek Messenger God. Hermes is the winged herald of the Olympian Gods and a divine Trickster. He is often depicted as a young man with winged shoes and hat, who can travel fast throughout all realms between Heaven and the Underworld. Hermes is very clever, but when not busy with duties, his mind can easily turn to trickery.
Gemini is about communication, getting information from different sources, connecting the dots and crosspollinating thoughts and ideas. The Gemini image is the symbol of Twins, two heads talking, conversing about everything from stories to gossip, and ideas to hearsay…
The Solar Eclipse is a New Moon on Gemini steroids! This is the counterbalance for the Lunar Eclipse that just happened May 26th in Sagittarius. You can read about what conspired then here which also effects this upcoming New Moon. The Eclipse here kicks off a new two-year and three-month Moon Family at 20 degrees Gemini. It will be especially dramatic if you have personal planets or angles at 20 degrees of Gemini or in any of the other mutable signs (Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces).
The New Moon Eclipse is in exact conjunction with Mercury Retrograde himself – Mercury moving backwards through Gemini – causing all the mayhem to happen in Communication and Travel. The Eclipse is also in a square to Neptune in Pisces which gives another double dose of confusion. When the Universe wants to tell us something – she tells it to us three times over! This will be a disorienting time, things are not at all what they seem, information being shared is at worst deceitful and at best just filled with misunderstandings. This is not something you need to lose sleep over, though of course many do, with Mercury in an air sign! Just know that you should take all interactions with a grain of salt. Be patient, read the small text over again, confirm and then reconfirm what you think you heard, it is the ultimate “do it again, do it three times, do it four times over”, and be prepared that still things might not be quite right.
In nine months, when the next First Quarter Moon happens at 19.50 Gemini on March 10th 2022, we will have a much better idea of what this New Moon actually set in motion. December 8th 2022, when we have the Full Moon in Gemini, we will be able to truly see the illumination of seeds now planted.
The New Moon Eclipse, as chaotic as Hermes might make it, may also offer some true spiritual, intuitive, and dream-related revelations to come through. Neptune is conjunct Pallas Athena in Pisces, the Goddess of Wisdom, who is sharp with patterns, and will bring her gifts through the Piscean realms of our subconscious at this particular time. Take note of your intuitive self, find a moment to meditate and calm your overly active Gemini-infused nervous system so you can tap into the imagery Pallas is here to offer.
Both Venus and Mars will still be in Cancer during the New Moon, so listen to your gut, check in with what your emotions are telling you, don’t just keep going frantically because society is pushing for that right now: Trust your intuitive self.
So my dear Astrology friends, go with the changing flow of the Gemini New Moon, and know situations and circumstances will continue to change. Touch into your intuition on what makes sense as Hermes will be sending confusing signals to all of us during this time. Mercury stations direct on June 23rd, which is also followed by the retrograde shadow till July 7th 2021. You can expect easier connections and communication after July 7th 2021.
